Chippewa senior Nate Ghena is leading Central Michigan during a competitive cross country season. Ghena is a three-time All-MAC runner, who did not run cross country in high school. CMU coach Matt Kuzcor said, “You think about all the work he;s put in and how far he’s come from not being a cross country runner in high school. It would have been awesome for him to come home with all-regional. That would have been a pretty amazing accomplishment.” Ghena finished 26th in this weekend’s regional meet with a time of 31:25.2, one spot away from earning all-region honors. Ghena also earned MAC runner of the week twice in September earlier this season. The Chippewa’s are going to miss the leadership and hard work of Ghena in the future. Coach Kuzcor says, “That’s going to be a big kid to miss next year. Hard to replace, and the work ethic. I hope the younger guys have taken a page out of his book to move the program forward in the direction that we want to go.” Check back tomorrow for a full recap of this past weekend’s regional meet!
