Last weekend, the Central Michigan Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to Louisville, KY to take part in the NCAA Cross Country Pre-Nationals. CMU's Nate Ghena and Kristin Olling took most of the attention. Ghena finished 6th overall in the Men's unseeded 8K race with a time of 24 minutes, 11.8 seconds, which is his personal best here at CMU. Olling finished 14th in the Women's unseeded 6K race with a time of 21 minutes and 10.9 seconds. The CMU men placed 13th behind MAC rivals Miami [9th] and Ohio U [11th]. The CMU women placed 6th overall with 258 points only behind MAC rival Buffalo [2nd]. Coach Matt Kaczor says, "If we improve a few places, we move up some spots...it's just
going to be one of our guys from three through seventh that's just
going to have to pick up the slack and that's going to make a huge
difference." Clearly he is confident that his Chippewas can do a little better with their abilities. This week the Chippewas get ready for the MAC Championships in Akron, OH. If the Chippewas can keep this up, and place in the top 3 in their region, they will be back in Louisville for Nationals.
